Gave Hoshi his bath

I let Hoshi’s hair grow out for his Christmas pictures but shaved him down yesterday. Believe it or not, he gets hot in the house with his hair long. He’ll get up and start panting. The temperature has been around freezing for the past week and I keep the thermostat set at 71F. I think we’re finally over the fleas. Really, we didn’t have any problem till that cat started hanging around the house. I haven’t seen it lately.

He’s been picky lately with his raw chicken. The other day I cooked the meat except for the bone and gave it to him which he liked. I don’t mind. I just have to wait for it to cool. Truth is I’ve been letting him sample what I eat which he like better than raw chicken. I make turkey tacos and he loves the meat.

When my wife wakes up…

Here’s my plan. “Honey I have some good news and bad news. The bad news is Hoshi did get sick from the stuff he ate on his walk. 🙁 You were right thinking he would get sick from it. 😳 He had an accident(s) last night from diarrhea. The good news is he did it in basement and it was an easy clean up.”

Hoshi got sick from cheese

Cheese used to be Hoshi’s favorite treat. Not anymore! He still loves it but I won’t give him any. I was making myself lunch and Hoshi saw me take out the cheese. He begged right away since he loves it. It was cheddar I think. I cut him a small piece and gave it to him. The next day he had diarrhea. He had diarrhea for several days and was miserable. Days later, I was cleaning his butt (it was all poopied). His but was RAW. Very Raw. He must have been scooting or licking–not sure. I felt so bad for him. It took about a week for the diarrhea clear up. His rear started to look better too. I gave him Benadryl. I think it helped.

Hoshi had his bath and trim yesterday. I was tempted to shave him down after all the trouble he had been having but didn’t since it’s so cold out.

“Enhanced with chicken broth”

I bought some chicken thighs at Kroger the other day. They were boneless. I really didn’t notice that or the fact the label read “Enhanced with 35% chicken broth.” Well, they gave him loose stools. I’d like to know why it has this? I won’t buy them again.

Update on Hoshi

He went to the vet yesterday and weighs 23.5lbs. My hefty boy! Now he’s up to date on all his vaccinations and had his nails trimmed. The tech said they were a little long. I haven’t been clipping them. I never clipped Gabby’s nails because they never needed it with all the walks he had. We are going to try FortiFlora to see if his stools firm up. I just haven’t figured out what to put it in.

Hoshi was funny yesterday. I was walking him and we past a lawn care van. It had a life-size decal of a man fertilizing the grass. Hoshi saw him and backed away. He stared at the van and started barking. Even two to three houses away, Hoshi continued to bark at the van. At the vet they had a tissue dispenser in the shape of a small dog. Hoshi had to examine it to see if it was friendly.
