OMG if any of you ever had a Cocker with this,it is so terable.
My Ashley had it and I had her to several Vets.all had said they never
seen anything this bad in a skin problem.

At age 2-3 she came down with a black stickey spot on her neck.
I thought it was from her flea coller and removed it.
The spot got worse and bigger. To the Vet,we went.
Next it was between her rear legs and on the front of the front legs.
Than under the tail,in her ears, between her toes.
It was horrable! Like black elephant skin, only sticky and stinky.
We were to so many Vets
for another opion .No one knew nothing.
Predisone helped for a wile(a little). I had to give her a hair cut my self
as no groomer wanted such a desease in there shop!
Baths 2-3 times a week. Special shampoos.
Testing done to no end! Medical bills also.
Skin punches sent to a medical university..

Only thing I ever heard was (BAD BREEDING)>>
My beloved Ashley lived to be 8 yrs old and passed away from
all the meds that took a toll on her body and organs.
We lover her to the end,did everything that we could and money would let us do. She was the best Cocker I ever had,and the worse one I ever had for
medical problems. (She never asked for this and all she went thru forsure.)

All for a breeder that was so anxious to make a buck($$$) and the "H"\with
what become of the pups or the owners after she got that $$$ in her pocket.
Oh yes! Ashley was AKC registered also.....Makes no difference.
Bottom line! Check out the breeder and make sure the female is not
being over breed and both parents are from good medical stock!
You and your pup are the only ones that are gonna suffer.
NOT THE BREEDER!!!!

Just hold on here! I for one do not appreciate someone I have never heard of before coming on board & slamming another person. We know nothing about the poster, this breeder, or her situation, kennel, or whatever. We no nothing! And to just take a total strangers word & allow them to totally try to destroy another person's reputation is despicable! We have been told very few facts & certainly have heard nothing from this Pam Fuller. You know, you can do your very best to try to produce the best temperments & healthy animals, but things do go wrong. This is why it is so important to keep communications open with your breeder. If they care about these animals at all, they will want to hear the good & bad. Sometimes it may mean a breeder will select a different line when it comes time to breed again & if a problem presented itself or it may be necessary to neuter/spay the breeding stock. But to go online & make these kind of accusations against a person, well helpinghand, you have left yourself wide open for a slander lawsuit. I for one will try to find out if she is a breeder, what her practices are & it will be made known to her of the public attack that is taking place.

Yes there is an auto-immune skin disease. I cannot imagine a groomer refusing to groom a dog with this "disease". This is not contagious! Any groomer will know the special shampoos that are needed for these dogs. Usually your coal tar & sulphur shampoos. And sometimes these dogs do develope staph infections. Well guess what, this is why the groomers use disinfectants. Skins problems are running rampant in this breed. Wonder if the thyroid was ever checked in this dog. Usually there is a thyroid condition with the severity of the symptoms posted. We simply put, do not have all of the facts.

Please refrain from a personal attack on anyone unless that person has the opportunity to state the facts as they seem them. Frankly, I am not interested in reading about an ongoing fued between two persons. How about simply stating the facts that you have learned about auto-immune skin disease & help educate the rest of us.
