Indiana: Cocker thrown from car

Authorities are looking for an older model army green four door sedan with vinyl top. Two men were seen throwing a cocker spaniel from highway 135 then turned the car around to hit it. The 1-2 year old cocker spaniel suffered severe injuries including a crushed pelvis. The next 72 hours are critical for her survival. Harrison County Animal control is accepting donation for “Sandy’s” veterinary treatment. Call them at (812) 267-5636

UPDATE: A Mr. Austin? at the Harrison County Animal Control let me know that “Bambi” is expected to make a full recovery–She has been renamed again. He says phone calls have been coming in all day for Bambi. Bambi is being treated at the Louisville Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Services. A fund has been started by The Shamrock Foundation. Donations can be sent to the following address:

Shamrock Arrow Fund
PO Box 24033
Louisville KY 40224-0033

Update 3/22/2011:  WHAS11 in Kentucky is reporting Bambi is doing well after surgery.  She had one plate and six screws attached to her pelvic bone.

Well intentions hinder cocker’s adoption

There’s a story about a cocker spaniel named Batista which is confusing to say the least. The SPCA in Kent county, Delaware sent out an email to various rescues about Batista because his food aggression made adoption challenging. A rescue named Canine Nation mistook Batista’s situation thinking he was in danger of being euthanized and included this in their listing. An Elsmere Delaware resident adopted him then placed him on Craigslist. Her intentions were good. She was fostering him then adopting him out again. Anyways, Canine Nation found out her plans and Batista is back at the Kent County SPCA and available for adoption.

Footnote: I also discovered another adoptable cocker spaniel at the Kent County SPCA. He’s a buff male. No other information is listed. See profile.

Fundraiser for Rudy

Rudy is one of Minnie’s pups. Minnie was pregnant and recued by Robin from a sad situation. Rudy was fortunately adopted to a loving family. Rudy tested positive for parvo virus after coming down with vomiting and diarrhea yesterday. He’s being treated at the vet and is expected to pull through. Robin is doing a fundraiser to help pay for his medical expenses. Fundraiser includes sale items on Robin’s site as well as a drawing for one of Polly portraits. See Robin’s thread for more details.

Adoptable in LA: Cockapoo with companion

Willie is a cocker-poodle mix partially blind and needs heart and eye medication.  He was found as a stray along with his Welsh Corgi companion Philly.  Both are inseparable.  Philly will cry if he’s separated from Willie.  He follows Willie everywhere and also guides Willie too.  Both are seniors with sweet personalities.  Both must be adopted together.  Call the Agoura shelter at (818) 706-5898.  Give them their ID numbers: A4218669 and A4218667.
